The ratchet anvil secateurs utilise a downward cutting action onto the flat anvil blade and are best ideal for use on thicker dead or woody stems and are more suited for heavy duty work than bypass secateurs. The ratchet action provides a mechanical advantage and allows the user to cut thicker material in short steps simply squeeze the handle until the audible click release pressure and repeat until the cut is complete.
